Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of the calo. app and website (the "Service"), operated by Kanishk Patel ("we", "us"). By using calo. you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

calo. helps you log food and estimate calories and macronutrients from photos and manual entry, using the Canadian Nutrient File and AI models. Figures are estimates.

2. Eligibility & account

You must be the age of majority in your province or have consent. You are responsible for your account and for keeping your credentials secure.

3. Subscriptions (calo. Pro)

calo. Pro is an auto-renewable subscription.

  • Price: $1.99 CAD per week or $77.99 CAD per year, with a 3-day free trial for new subscribers.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
  • The subscription automatically renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Manage or cancel anytime in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
  • Prices may change; we will give notice as required.

4. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the Service, attempt to breach security, reverse-engineer it, or use it unlawfully.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the photos and data you submit. You grant us a licence to process and store them to provide and improve the Service (including training our food-recognition models), as described in the Privacy Policy.

6. Medical disclaimer

calo. is for general wellness and information only. It is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional advice. Estimates may be inaccurate. Do not rely on calo. to treat or manage any medical condition or eating disorder, and consult a qualified professional before making health decisions.

7. AI & accuracy

Food recognition and calorie/macro figures are automated estimates and may be wrong. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting entries.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions made in reliance on estimates.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date.

Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Service. The standard Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies; where it conflicts, these Terms govern the parts they can.
